ābirūn

ābirūn is the collaborative project of composers Sina M Fard and Conor Abbott Brown. Formed in 2025 at the Institute of Sonology, the duo centers their practice on analog synthesis and the interpretation of texts. By iterating through modular patches to transform poetic contours into music, ābirūn reveals hidden currents within language.

Sina M Fard (b. 1987, Iran) is a composer, sound artist and researcher whose work investigates the political dimensions of sound and collective memory. Conor Abbott Brown (b. 1988, United States) is a composer, synthesist, and orchestrator whose hybrid aesthetics stem from a commitment to multiple musical traditions. While their collaborative process is porous — both concern themselves with the conceptual deconstruction of source texts, the design of synthesizer patches, and the building of compositional systems — Fard leans toward linguistic aspects and Brown towards technical implementation.
